I Awake to Find Out My Husband May Be Descended From the First Documented Slave in America, John Punch…

I awake this morning to find that every genealogy headline states President Barack Obama is descended from John Punch, the first documented African slave in America. He was an indentured servant who was declared a slave for life in punishment for attempting an escape in 1640.
