The user I mentioned previously who told me about the ads showing on my site for the scam sites familyhistory.us.org, genealogy.us.org and ancestor.us.org among several others was Deb of Deb’s Delvings into Genealogy. New sites in this group are being discovered every time I turn around and I continue to keep my eyes open.
I did, however, locate her blog and discovered that she is a Certified Genealogist, putting me to shame as I do this for my own fun and personal satisfaction. Anyway, she mentioned searching for these sites on internet review websites and finding very little. Not only that, but what she did find was miscategorized and very confusing.
So, this is where the “new stuff” I promised in my previous post starts. Her request for a good review site for genealogy products, services, etc. rang a bell for me as I had recently put my consumer focused review, tips, hints and how tos site up live. It’s called ‘Empty Nest View‘ and I have already posted reviews about these sites there as well as on this genealogy blog.
I wish to extend an invitation to anyone who would like to submit a tip, hint, how to, but especially a review on this site. Just email the review or article to me with the byline you’d like and one link you’d like referenced for a link back to you. All submissions will be reviewed prior to posting. I’m in the process of looking for a plugin that will allow viewers to submit their posts directly (like with comments) for posting once moderated.
I already have categories set up, but I will be fine tuning them as I learn which areas are most or least used. As time progresses and the demand warrants, I will be setting up dedicated pages for each category.
