SettlersHallelujah!

I’ve never been more pleased with an announcement than I was today when Library and Archives Canada (LAC) announced their release of the new 1906 Census of the Northwest Provinces.

My husband’s maternal ancestors were Swedish and were among the original pioneering settlers in Saskatchewan in the first decade of the 1900′s. Researching this family after their relocation to Canada in the Northwest Provinces Census has been difficult at best because in the past, I had to search using the province, district and sub-district. If I didn’t know this exact information, I would have to narrow it down as close as I could and then spend countless hours viewing and scanning each and every page in an attempt to locate them.

We can now search with one or more of the given name, surname, or age of the person(s) we are researching, information we are much more likely to have.
